So I said I would let you know how raiding is going in 3.02 and here it is. I have now spent 3 nights raiding in SSC and TK, and have a good idea how things are working.
First off is SSC . Kryptik are now clear in SSC . We went in there and down Hydross, with out any tanks in resist gear. In fact in has been so nerfed we spawned 2 sets of adds at once, had a pally tanking him and only did one phase change. The rest of the night was spent learning Vashj. Although it has been nerfed it still needs the whole raid to work to together, to get though this fight.
We didn’t get Vashj on the first night but on the second she went down. This is a really fun fight to do, and if you get the chance to do it, then you must.
The very next night was off to TK. We down Al’ar pretty quick on the first attempt. The fight when really smoothly and was pretty fun. We spent the rest of the night on Kael’thas. We didn’t get him but manged to get to the 4th phase. The main factor behind us not getting him down is only having 5 healers. Only 5 healers makes it a little bit hard in phase 4 and 5. Hopefully he will come down in 2 days time when we head back in there.
O and I gots me some shinny loot Netherbane
Unsure if I will use it but man dose it look cool. Maybe a second one and dual wield them?
Yes I am still plaining on writing on my build for 3.02. It is coming.
That’s right it’s that time of the year again. This is really the first time I have gotten into a world event – I think this is because of new achievement system. I haven’t just gotten into it, I have pretty much finished it. The great thing is that Blizz are removing the need to get one of every mask.
What I don’t like, is the fact that this new system has gotten me from never doing a world event, to completing it and getting a title (when 3.0.3 comes out this week), in the first day and a half. Damn Blizz are good at what they do.
I also ran SSC last night and really got to test out my new build. I’ll post later on today about that.
Yeah you heard me, it’s broken. When you MD a target, the threat meter shows you have no threat and the thing you Md’ed with tons, but the mob still comes and beats on your arse.
I opened a ticket last night with no answer. I had another one open today for 2 hours but still no GM wants to talk to me. Also, there does not seem to be anything over in the WoW forums. *sigh*
I have now posted a bug report
I’ll update this when I find out more.
*Update*
So yeah, just ignore what I said above, it’s not broken after all. What was happening, is I was using Distracting shot – which as you can see, has changed. I do remember reading about this a while ago but forgot all about it. This could come in handy in some situations.
So just remember, when you are MDing a target, to not use Distracting shot – otherwise bad things will happen and you will die.
Well last night I took my shiny new talents, the awesomeness that is Orthus, and we went into Kara for a bit of fun. We didn’t really know what to expect. I was pretty sure my build was going to work, and provide a lot of DPS – but this was the first real good look at how the other classes were shaping up.
I knew Orthus was going to piss some people off, but man did he do such a good job of it. For those who haven’t heard yet the orange core hounds from MC are a little bit different from the green or white ones. These ones BURN. So not only is the whole room shaking, but you also have the sounds of a good fire burning the whole time. I can’t wait for a 25 man
The only problem was the raid nerf. Everything was so damn easy, we were not able to really put anything to the test. Every boss fight only lasted 2 minutes. I could not get any good gauge on Aspect of the Viper and mana regen, as the fight was over before I got below 80%. At one point, I was doing 2200 DPS on Illhoof, but that was only because of his debuff when Kil’rek dies. Maiden took a grand total of 51 seconds. Everything was just crazy.
What I did find out was how awesome raid buffs are now. Shaman totems actually help us Hunters out. Pally buffs are very different – no salvation might make you worry – but our warrior tank was getting 1500 TPS while the rest of us were getting around 700-900 TPS. Threat is no longer a problem. Pallys have crazy DPS, which is good to see, and their CC works just like a Priests shackle. The calls from BlizzCon of “don’t nerf me bro” are understandable, but as I write this they have already been hot fixed, with more changes to come.
In terms of numbers, raid buffs and the new talents had a huge impact on things. I was getting 5% extra crit from raid buffs, and I went from 1987 AP to 2770 AP at one stage. My DPS before the patch was around 900 on trash and on boss fights just over 1k. Now I am doing 1100 DPS on trash and 1500 DPS on boss fights.
Tonight we are hoping to get into ZA to give something a bit harder a go. Hopefully this will give me a better understanding of how the Hunter class is shaping up. But so far I am very happy with everything to do with a Hunter.
OMG is it not the best thing you have ever seen? I think so. It only took 2 or so hours to get. Big thanks goes out to BRK for posting the guide on how to get one - made my life a lot easier. Also, a big thanks goes out to Ariia for the awesome heals. As far as I can tell, this is the first one on my server
The big tip which will make this happen, is threat – the more threat you can get before you start taming, the better.
His name is Orthus
